Resources
Classes, community, and where else to look.
The classes Mana runs alongside clinical care, plus the things we point people toward — crisis lines staffed around the clock, vocational and educational information, and community organizations. Some of what is here is ours and some of it is not, and both are worth knowing about.
If you need help right now
Call 911
If you or someone else is in immediate physical danger.
988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
Call or text 988 to reach a trained counselor, any hour of the day, anywhere in the United States. Free and confidential.
Veterans Crisis Line
Call 988 and press 1, for veterans, service members and their families.
SAMHSA National Helpline
A free, confidential, 24/7 treatment referral and information service for mental health and substance use, run by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Their treatment finder is at findtreatment.samhsa.gov.
Mana’s office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We are not a crisis service and do not answer outside those hours — the lines above are staffed when we are not.
Vocational and educational
Employment support at Mana
Help getting ready for work, applying, and staying employed — offered as a Mana service rather than an outside referral.
ARIZONA@WORK and DES Vocational Rehabilitation
State-run job training, placement and vocational rehabilitation for adults, including support specific to disability and reentry. A public service, separate from Mana.
Vocational and educational material sits here rather than among our clinical services, because that is what it is — useful information and referrals rather than treatment.
Occasional classes and experiences
From time to time, alongside clinical care, Mana offers enrichment built around the things that make a day worth getting up for — movement, making something, being useful to someone else. These are periodic rather than a fixed timetable, so ask what is running at the moment.
Yoga and meditation
Movement and stillness as practical tools — for settling the body, sitting with discomfort, and building a habit that holds up outside the room.
Arts and crafts
Making something with your hands, and saying things that are hard to put into words.
Building community through service
Showing up for other people. Being useful is one of the surer ways back to feeling part of something.
Community and recovery support
211 Arizona
A statewide helpline and directory for food, housing, utility assistance and other practical help across Maricopa County and beyond. Free to call, any hour.
Peer support at Mana
Time with someone who has been through recovery themselves.
Mutual-aid meetings in Phoenix
Twelve-step and non-twelve-step groups meet across the metro area. Mana does not require participation in any of them and does not favor a particular approach — ask and staff will help you find something that suits you.
NAMI Arizona
Education, support groups and resources for families and individuals, from the Arizona chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
The organizations linked above are public services. Mana does not operate them and cannot speak to their availability or waiting times — but they are well established, and staff can help you make contact. Which one fits depends on what you need and what is available at the time, so ask and we will help you find the right one rather than handing you a list.
For referring providers
If you are a case manager, discharge planner, probation officer or clinician looking to refer someone, call the office directly and ask for the referral process. We would rather have a short conversation about fit than receive a fax that sits unanswered.
Mana provides outpatient behavioral health only. We do not offer detox, inpatient treatment, partial hospitalization, or 24-hour clinical care, and we will tell you quickly if someone needs a level of care we do not provide.
